Kindergarten is an exciting time for children and their families. It is the beginning of “big” school and with that comes a lot of excitement and nervousness. Students come to school with a variety of backgrounds and experiences. Some students have been to a preschool while others have had the opportunity to stay at home. Kindergarten is an exciting time for student growth. Some students may come knowing some of their alphabet and counting and leave being able to read books, write stories, and solve math problems. We believe kindergarten sets the foundation for all future learning. Our goal is to make learning fun and come alive for students.

HIGHLIGHTS
Polar Express Day: Kindergarteners wear their pajamas to school and we do special activities around the book “The Polar Express.”
Grandparents Day: Our grandparents join us for a special lunch and come to the playground to meet all of our friends.
100th Day of School: We have a fashion show to model student and family made t-shirts to celebrate the 100th Day. We have activities all throughout the day to celebrate this day.
Easter Egg Hunt: We dye eggs at school and have an egg hunt.
Letters and Cards to Soldiers and Nursing Homes: During the holidays (Christmas and Valentine’s Day) we create cards, letters, and decorations and send them to soldiers serving overseas. We make and deliver valentines to local nursing homes.
Cultural Fair: Each year we have a time that we learn about different cultures around the world.
Pumpkin Patch: Every fall we go to the pumpkin patch where we learn all about the life cycle of a pumpkin. We see farm animals up close, go on a hayride, and pick our own pumpkin.
Barnyard Friends: Each spring we go to Barnyard Friends on Petit Jean Mountain and learn all about the different animals. We get to hold, pet, and feed the animals.
Quarterly Assemblies: Each quarter we have assemblies to celebrate our hard work and attendance.
Kindergarten Promotion: At the end of kindergarten we celebrate all we have learned by having a kindergarten promotion at The Center for the Arts.
