Your thoughtful feedback will help us to ensure that the 26-27 RSD Calendar best meets the needs of faculty, staff, students, and families. Please take a few moments to review the calendar and share your input by Wednesday, April 1st, 2026

Here are a few key highlights to consider:

1) "Smart Start" Mondays are being replaced by full non-student contact days placed strategically in each semester. Part of each day is also reserved for professional development to provide ongoing professional learning opportunities throughout the year.

a) The total protected time for teachers remains the same.

b) All school days have the same daily schedule.

c) These are not student contact days, so all staff are able to participate fully.

d) The breakdown of team collaborative time and PD time is shown for each month.

e) These are built onto existing breaks as often as possible to minimize disruption for families.

f) Late April and all of May is avoided, so it does not interfere with end of year testing.

2) The calendar is based on instructional hours rather than days. We must have 1068 instructional hours, but this calendar has 1083. This allows for two days for inclement weather to occur before requiring additional student contact time to be added to the calendar. The math is included on a separate tab if you're interested in its calculation.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback and help shape the upcoming school year. To submit your response, please email: rsdcommunications@rsdk12.net
