Hello RJHS Parents/Guardians: In order to ensure the safety and well-being of RSD athletes and fans during this extreme heat, changes have been made to the following athletic events this week: Tennis: Tuesday Rescheduled for 9/28 Thursday Match v.s. Harrison will start at 7:00 p.m. at RHS Whirlwind Football Thursday @ Harrison: 8th Grade: Cancelled 9th Grade: Kick off moved to 8:00 p.m. RHS Cyclones Football Friday: Kickoff moved to 8:00 p.m.

Tomorrow is the first day of school and the first SMART Start Monday! We can't wait to see all of our new and returning Whirlwinds!

Welcome to RJHS Coach Wilhelm! "My name is Cory Wilhelm. I am excited about teaching 8th grade Science and coaching Junior High Boys Basketball and Track this year at Russellville. I played college basketball at the University of the Ozarks right down the road in Clarksville. My two best friends are my niece and nephew! I’m super excited to get to know all the students, and have a fantastic year."

Welcome to RJHS Mrs. Caldwell! "Hi, my name is Katie Caldwell. I am very excited to be teaching at Russellville Jr High this year. I grew up in Southeast Arkansas, but I have lived in the Russellville area for the last 10 years with my husband and two children. This year I will be teaching 9th-grade Physical Science. I am most excited to see students I have previously taught in years past. "

Welcome to RJHS Mr. Strahan! "Hi, my name is Cody Strahan. I am excited to be returning to RJHS this upcoming school year! I will be teaching computer science. Russellville has always been a special place for me where I attended college at Arkansas Tech University and began my career in education. I am looking forward to getting to know the students and seeing what this school year will bring!"

Welcome to RJHS Coach Britt! "Hi, my name is Tommy Britt. I am excited to be a part of the Russellville School District. I have been teaching and coaching for 24 years at various schools in Arkansas and I am happy to be back in the river valley once again. This year I will be teaching Advanced 9th-grade Physical Science, as well as coaching football and track. I am extremely excited to see what this school year will bring and meet all of my students and colleagues as school begins."

Welcome to RJHS Mrs. Green! "Hi! My name is Mrs. Green and I’m not a new face to most- more like an old face returning to where my teaching career all started back in 2009! You might know me from RJHS, London, Western Yell, UE5G (RIS), or RMS. I am excited to be returning to RJHS to teach 8th-grade science next year. I look forward to being with your kids once again. "

Welcome to RJHS Mrs. Harness! "I am starting my 27th year teaching in the Russellville School District. I was at RHS for 20 years where I taught Marketing and sponsored DECA and the work program. I taught keyboarding at RMS for 6 years. My husband, Jason, and I are life-long residents of Pope County and we have two daughters, Miranda and Hannah. I’m looking forward to continuing teaching the students that I taught the past two years!"

Hello, Welcome to RJHS Mrs. Vaught! "My name is Libby Vaught. I'm a proud graduate of Russellville High School and, I'm excited to return to teach agriculture and immerse students in FFA! I reside in Clarksville with my husband Brian. We have two grown sons and raise German shorthaired pointers. When I'm not teaching, I'm most likely turkey-hunting or planning turkey-hunting trips. I'm looking forward to a great year!"

Welcome to RJHS Mrs. Mata! "Hello, my name is Mirna Mata. I am the Secretary in the Counselor's Office at RJHS. I've been married for 8 years and have 3 beautiful kiddos! (Leo, Luci and Livi). In my free time, I like to cook, bake, craft and spend time with my family. This will be my third year at RSD, but my first year being part of a school building. I look forward to helping staff and students throughout the year."

Welcome to RJHS Ms. Nieman "My name is Abigail Niemann, and I will be teaching 8th Grade Social Studies at Russellville Junior High School along with being one of the sponsors for Student Council! I graduated from Russellville High School in 2018, so being able to return to my alma mater is the best feeling. This year, I am most excited about growing as an educator and a person! Go Whirlwinds! "

Welcome to RJHS Mrs. Torres! "Hi! My name is Bailey Torres. I am the Jr High Cheer coach and will be teaching 8th grade English! I grew up around Russellville, and now my husband and I live here with our sweet dog, Zeke. Everyone at RJHS has been so welcoming and kind to me. RJHS truly has the best staff! I’m super excited to get to know each student and see what this year has in store! "

Our E.A.S.T. students have been working hard and cultivating a garden in the middle of our outdoor space at RJHS! They partnered with Flowers Etc. , Greenthumb Nursery, and Russellville Tractor Supply to gather materials. It has made the pad an inviting and welcoming space!
